Our Technology
Technology plays a major role at Silverstone Company Ltd, from equipment monitoring/tracking to information systems to customer service. Our goal is to drive costs down and efficiency levels up.
Satellite Communications:
Our entire fleet is equipped with Satellite phone communication technology.
This gives us instant two-way communications with our drivers for dispatching
and directions. Our drivers can request directions from their current
position to the next stop on their route, or in the unlikely event of
a breakdown, to the nearest service facility. We monitor the engine
data constantly to help our service departments keep our fleet in top
performing condition. GPS information from our trucks allow us to track
your loads 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
Optimization:
we assist our planners with making the best driver to load decision.
We also plan their route for the most efficient route and most economical
fuel stops. Through this we are better able to optimize our drivers'
time and our equipment utilization.
Our Safety and Fatigue Policy
Being in the long-distance haulage business, we cannot over-look issues of safety that bring about fatigue to our service crew, thus affecting the value of our service. For that, Silverstone Company has instituted and implemented safety points to ensure smooth flow of operations. These are:
Education – Proactive education for our drivers and support staff is at the forefront, since the day they are orientated. Emphasis is placed on the dangers and signs of fatigue.
Allowances – Education on its own cannot combat fatigue. We go a step further to facilitate ample rest by appointing specific resting points/sleep-overs for our drivers and support staff en-route and also by paying for their accommodation.
Tracking – The client’s cargo is equally important to us and we show that by mounting tracking devices on our trucks to consistently show the exact position of the loaded truck throughout the entire journey.
Compliance – Paramount to our operations is our compliance to all set Government traffic rules and regulations. Our trucks are duly inspected and our trained crew have to wear reflective jackets while on the highway.
Our Fleet Safety Policy
Silverstone Logistics Ltd takes pride in operating one of the most well maintained fleets in East/Central Africa and South Sudan.
To ensure this quality we inspect our trucks as they enter our terminals.
When a driver enters one of our safety lanes, he/she does not just get
fuel and an opportunity to clean his windows. A trained safety lane
attendant will perform a safety check of the truck and trailer to ensure
it is safe to operate on public roadways. All of the lights on the truck
and trailer are checked to verify that they illuminate and function
properly. The tires are checked to ensure they are within depth guidelines
and meet all transport board tire regulations. The brakes are also inspected
to ensure they are in proper working order. Finally, the truck and trailer
are visually checked for any structural defects and hazards. By performing
these checks we help minimize unwanted road side breakdowns. More importantly
though, we assure our trucks are safe to share the roads with you and
your family.
